      Thiruchitrambalam is a name of god(sivalingam).thiruchitrambalam sivan temple is here.so that god name is kept for this place.As it is a junction of connecting mailam,tindivanam and pondicherry,it is called as thiruchitrambalam kootroad.

     Thiruchitrambalam is one of the developing town in pondicherry.even it is located in villupuram district,it comes under pondicherry because of its location.
